Preparations before Journey
International students should apply for "X" visa or "F" visa at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate-General to study in China with the original documents and one set of photocopies of the:
(1) Visa Application for Study In China (JW201 or JW202),
(2) Admission Notice,
(3)Foreigner Physical Examination Form,
(4)A valid ordinary passport.
International students must enter China with the original copies of the above documents. A person coming to China with other types of passports, visas or without the original documents will not be able to register with the institution, nor will they be able to apply for residence in China.
X (study) visas are issued to those coming to China for study or an internship for longer than six months.
F (visit) visas are issued to those invited to China to do business or study for a period of less than six months.
Students who are organized in form of groups and stay less than 6 months can apply for the F group visas by the authorized invitation letters or telegrams of the duly authorized unit.
International students should apply for Residence Permit for Foreigners from the division of exit-entry administration of local public security bureau within thirty days since arrival in China.
2. Physical examination体检
After arriving in China, international students are required to go to the Health quarantine bureau to make the Physical Examination Record again. If the student is diagnosed to have disease which the laws prohibits entry in China, he/she must return to his country at his own expense.
International students are required to buy both medical insurance and personal accidental death and injury insurance. You are required to buy the insurance in China after your arrival, 600 rmb per year.
4. Introduction of Jiamusi City佳木斯城市简介
Chinese Name:佳木斯市(jiā mù sī shì)
Location(地理位置):Jiamusi is situated on the boarder of the Heilongjiang Province, with Harbin on its west, Shuangyashan on its east. It is separated from Russia by the Wusuli River (Ussuri River) in the east and the Heilongjiang River (Amur River) in the north. Population: 2,447,000. Area: 32,700 square kilometers (12,626 square miles)
History（历史介绍）:Historical records list Jiamusi as an ancient bridle road of the Songhua River, leading to the Heilongjiang River estuary. It was once inhabited by the Sushen ethnic group, ancestors of the present Manchu group. There's no exact record of the origin of this place. It wasn't until the Twentieth Century that this place became the active town that it is now.
Physical Features（地理特征）: The city is located on the lower reaches of the Songhua River, neighboring the Sanjiang (Three Rivers) Plain formed by the Songhua, Heilongjiang and Wusuli rivers. Its terrain is low, with mountains beginning in the north, south and western areas of the city. Plains in this city, which lie in its northeastern area, are flat and low.
Climatic Features（气候特征）: The city enjoys a cold temperate continental monsoon climate with an annual average temperature of 3 degree centigrade (37.4 degree Fahrenheit). The temperature elevates gradually leading up to the summer months, and gradually decrease after. Temperatures typically peak in July.The bitter cold of winter usually sets in around November, and spring sets in around March. The average temperature between April and October is above zero centigrade (32 Fahrenheit).
FuyuanPort is located at the area where the Heilongjiang and Wusuli Rivers converge. This is the only release for the waterways of Jiamusi City and Heilongjiang Province, and allows the water to run into the sea. The port faces Russia (across the river). Further downstream one will find the Russian cities of Komsomolsk and Nikolayev.
Honghe Nature Reserve is a wetland habitat of swans, wild geese and red-crowned cranes. Bird watching is best throughout the summer months.
Jinjiekou is a compact community of the Hezhen people, located along the river in the Sino-Russia border. Here visitors learn the unique customs of the Hezhen indigenous group.
Wusu is a small but rich town. It is the largest fishing ground for salmon, and is seated along the easternmost end of China. The sun's rays strike Wusu first in China.
Other Scenic Spots : Wofoshan Skiing Resort, Sanjiang Nature Reserve
JiamusiAirportis located on the southern portion of the Tongsan (Tongjiang-Sanya) Highway, 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) east of city downtown area. Here one can access flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Harbin, as well as international flights to Khabarovsk of Russia. The railways in that city connect it with Harbin, Beijing, and Yantai, through which connections can be made with other cities.
